One of my goals this year has been to start showing some of my artwork. My hope is to also give some of them a home out there in the world. Not sure if anyone but me will find them interesting but that’s part of the scariness and excitement in trying this out.
Life finally lined up that I had a chunk of time off this summer. Mostly it was a much-needed recovery from the chaos of my theatre season, but it has also turned out to be the perfect time to put into action one of my creations. First to leave the gate will be The Society of Curious Creatures. The debut destination will be the Kaleido Family Arts Festival September 12-14. The festival showcases many art forms from music, dancing, theatre, craftwork and also artwork. They have two gallery spaces and I have been fortunate enough to have been selected to show my works in one of them. Yay!
‘The Society Of Curious Creatures is a fictional Society whose goals are to encourage the spread of knowledge and exploration of creatures that mainstream science has refused to acknowledge or continue research efforts towards. Many of the explorers have donated their research to the Society in hopes that an interest in these amazing and quirky beings continues. To begin, there will be a display of reproductions from the collection. In this case, Cabinets of Curiosity featuring three of the Curious Creatures within the archive.’
Here is the work in progress shots I submitted for entry. The Cabinets have come a long way from these photos and I’ll post some more complete photos as we get closer to the show date.
I also have a few surprises I’m hoping to go along with their debut. Stay tuned. 🙂
